About BIS (BLISS International School)

Founded in 2018, BIS (BLISS International School Academy), formerly known as Edify International School, is a registered trust and society/charity operating on a not-for-profit basis. The Trust receives a No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Education to operate the school.

Governance

BIS was born from a simple belief that learning should inspire, engage, and feel meaningful every day. Rooted in the IB philosophy, we nurture curious minds through hands-on experiences, thoughtful pedagogy, and future-ready skills, creating a place where every child truly feels at home.

Established in 2018, BIS (BLISS International School), formerly known as Edify International School, operates as a registered trust and charitable institution on a not-for-profit basis. The school functions with a No Objection Certificate issued by the Ministry of Education, reflecting its commitment to delivering quality education with integrity and purpose

Guiding Principles of the Governing Body

All members of the Governing Body of BIS shall:

  • Be motivated by an earnest desire to serve the school and the children it educates.
  • Maintain a student-centered focus in all decision-making.
  • Be accountable for the financial well-being of BIS.
  • Act in the best interests of the school, rather than any individual group or agenda.
  • Recognize that legal authority rests with the Governing Body, not any individual member.
  • Honor majority decisions once made.
  • Foster transparency, integrity, respect, empathy, and inclusivity in all governance practices.
  • Uphold the school’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Wisdom, Empathy, and Positivity in all decisions and interactions.

Structure and Communication

  • The Governing Body convenes four times a year — two meetings offline (in person) and two meetings online.
  • Minutes of Meetings (MoM) are recorded and maintained for all sessions.
  • The School Principals are permanent invitees to all Governing Body meetings.
  • The Director of Teaching and Learning, who also serves as the Founding Head of School, acts as the primary conduit of communication between the school community and the Trust, ensuring alignment with BIS’s governance, mission, and vision.
